Chris Pontello is an artist currently pursuing a MFA in Painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design. His work awakens historical moments of bravery -- when someone has confronted adversity despite imminent repercussions. These paintings embody a variety of techniques, from tight rendering to abstract textures made with spray paint, in order to express the emotions within the narrative. Chris’ work has been shown around downtown Savannah for over a decade, but most recently in 2020 he has had group and solo exhibitions at Blick Art Materials, a group show at Sulfur Studios, a group show at The Loft Savannah, and a solo exhibition at the Desoto hotel as a part of the Savannah Art Walk’s closing reception in 2017. This exhibition was followed by an interview with WSAV The Bridge. Today Chris continues his education to one day teach at the collegiate level.
